| 찰스 맥케이(Charles Mackay, 1814∼1889)가 고전서 『대중의 미망과 광기(Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds)』를 출간한 지도 171년이 지났다. 최근의 주택 거품을 보면 그가 말한 인간의 본성은 아직도 큰 변화가 없음이 분명하다. 페이스북(Facebook) 주식 상장에서 비롯된 큰 실망은 ‘소셜 미디어’ 팬들이 튤립 구근과 닷컴 주식을 쫓아 벼랑 끝까지 갔던 사람들만큼 ‘군중 심리’에 취약하다는 점을 보여준다. 2012년 대중의 망상을 살펴보자. |
